A bit about Tilbury

Tilbury Docks

Constructed in 1884–86, Tilbury Docks has since been updated and extended by the Port of London Authority to become the pivotal container port of the area. In 1965, roll-on, roll-off features were made available for use.

Located in the county of Essex, Tilbury is a port situated on the northern bank of the Thames Estuary, opposite Gravesend. It is about 42 km (26 mi) southeast of London Bridge.

Tilbury Ferry

The Tilbury–Gravesend Ferry has been running for centuries. A map from the 1571 records two docks, with the one on the north side connected to a road leading across the marshland.
