Gas training courses Runwell – the local area

Runwell is a village near Wickford, Essex. Inhabited since the 1200’s when St Mary’s Church was built, the village was predominantly agricultural over the centuries until recently. Now, a major proportion of residents hold professional occupations or are managers, directors or senior officials.

During World War II, Runwell became an evacuation point for children escaping England’s large cities; however, the area was heavily bombed during air raids. In the 1970’s and 80’s, the village became known for its annual fetes and fayres, with Wickford residents also joining in the festivities.
