The important CPA1 qualifications...

Our centre an agent for Kane flue gas analysers

We established in Basildon more than a decade ago are now known for our high level of training.

This year has been a busy year for us here at GTA; not only is our centre an agent for Kane flue gas analysers – which are used to measure the efficiency of the combustion process within a boiler – but as a team we can also offer courses resulting in a CPA1 qualification.

This is great news for all local gas engineers, as anyone dealing with gas boilers are required to have such a qualification. As the Gas Safe Register explains, ‘Changes to some of the key criteria relating to registration work categories for ‘boilers and space heaters’ came into effect on 1 April 2012.

‘This criteria requires that if you hold CEN1 (central heating boilers) and latterly CENWAT or HTR1 (space heaters) you need to ensure that you also hold a certificate of competence for Combustion Performance Analysis (CPA1).

‘After 1 April 2012, registered engineers who do not hold a current and valid CPA1 certificate of competence but hold either CEN1 or HTR1 will have these work categories suspended by Gas Safe Register until they obtain CPA1. This means that engineers are not legally able to work on central heating boilers or space heaters until they have obtained the CPA1 qualification.’

Here at Gas Training & Assessment we also arrange servicing and recalibration of combustion analysers; engineers can purchase them directly from us too.
