We are all concerned about the cost of living crisis and ever-increasing energy costs. An efficient boiler is a must, which is why gas engineers must ensure that they are up-to-date with diagnostics and repairs.

Gas Training & Assessment runs boiler fault finding courses in Essex, designed to upgrade engineers’ knowledge and understanding of all new boilers.

The issue with new boilers

In order to be environmentally friendly and economical, a property’s boiler needs to be as efficient as possible. When a new boiler is fitted, it will need to be installed and set up correctly with all of the correct controls. If this doesn’t happen, it may not run as efficiently as is should.

However, new style boilers can sometimes pose a problem for gas engineers; they are far more technically advanced than the older models and the majority of engineers haven’t kept up with the new technology via training. Therefore, it is important that engineers are competent and hold the relevant training and qualifications to install newer models. They will also need to be able to complete the commissioning procedure correctly and fill out the benchmark booklet that comes with the boiler.

This lack of knowledge will certainly have an impact on the customer; the engineer is likely to guess the fault, changing and replacing parts until they come upon the solution by chance. Or they may not be able to work out the issue, so tell the customer that they may need a new boiler. They might even end up damaging the boiler further as they have no idea what they’re doing!

None of these are green or cost-effective for the customer!

GTA has been running boiler fault finding courses in Essex for more than a year and have received exceptional feedback from participants. Many have said that it has given them more confidence when working on new boilers, making it easier for them to find and fix any problem.

“Very relaxed atmosphere with expert training with help at hand. I have been back for assessment and training 5 times over the years and would highly recommend without any hesitation. Most get nervous when back in the classroom and I believe that this has always been taken into consideration by the training staff. Thanks Tony and Toby!”

It’s simple – the more up-to-date knowledge you have, the better an engineer you’ll be. Which means your customers will benefit from a more efficient, greener boiler at a time when they really need it.
